UD Truck Gearboxes
Formerly known as Nissan, the UD truck name is a common one. UD is a Japanese vehicle solution provider. The company is now a completely owned subsidiary of Isuzu and is operative in over 60 countries across the globe.
The South African roads are frequented by the UD Croner which is a medium-duty truck, the UD Quon which is a heavy-duty truck, and the UD Quester which is also a heavy-duty truck.
UD has a vast range of truck and bus gearboxes with some popular ones being the n400, n3500, UD40, UD290, UD60, UD80, and UD85. The UD differential range is just as vast within their front differential and rear differential ranges. To list but a few, we have; UD5.1, UD 5.5, UD 5.8, and the UD double axel.
Trucks making use of the older UD 6-speed gearboxes are Isuzu, Iveco, and DAF. The UD Quon also makes use of the same gearbox as the Volvo I Shift which is a 12-speed.
UD trucks do not necessarily use UD gearboxes and UD truck gearboxes find themselves in a large range of truck models which is why it takes a professional to distinguish which truck gearbox is being diagnosed should there be an issue.
